Aside from being kid-friendly, you can switch out the ingredients for a boatload of combinations.  Switch out the ham and cheese for chicken, bacon and colby jack cheese.  You can even spread on some ranch dressing before adding the filling.  I’ve got a Taco Ring version, too!

Ingredients

ingredients for ham and cheese ring: crescent roll dough, ham slices, American cheese, and optional butter

Crescent Roll Dough: You can find this in the refrigerated section next to canned biscuit dough, and you’ll need one package per crescent ring. One ring will serve 4 people.

Deli Ham: This recipe uses 16 slices of deli ham, but you can use more or less depending on your preference. Go ahead and buy packaged deli ham or ask for fairly thinly sliced ham at the deli counter of your grocery store. 16 slices works out to about 1/2 pound.

American Cheese: Good ‘ol sliced American cheese. Yes, you can use any cheese that you like or have on hand. My daughter is really picky, though, and will only eat American cheese.

Brush on some melted butter and sprinkle with pretzel or course salt, if you like, for a finishing touch. This is totally optional, though.
